Description

What is cefadroxil?

Cefadroxil is in a group of drugs called cephalosporin (SEF a low spor in) antibiotics. It works by fighting bacteria in your body. ORDER CEXYL 250 MG – 500 MG CEFADROXIL

Cefadroxil is used to treat many different types of infections caused by bacteria.

What is the most important information I should know about cefadroxil?

Do not take this medication if you are allergic to cefadroxil, or to similar antibiotics, such as Ceftin, Cefzil, Keflex, Omnicef, and others.

Before taking this medication, tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs (especially penicillin). Also tell your doctor if you have kidney disease or a history of intestinal problems.

Take this medication for the entire length of time prescribed by your doctor. Your symptoms may get better before the infection is completely treated. Cefadroxil will not treat a viral infection such as the common cold or flu.

Antibiotic medicines can cause diarrhea, which may be a sign of a new infection. If you have diarrhea that is watery or has blood in it, call your doctor. Do not use any medicine to stop the diarrhea unless your doctor has told you to.
What should I discuss with my healthcare provider before taking cefadroxil?

Do not take this medication if you are allergic to cefadroxil or to other cephalosporin antibiotics, such as:

cefaclor (Raniclor);

cefazolin (Ancef);

cefdinir (Omnicef);

cefditoren (Spectracef);

cefpodoxime (Vantin);

cefprozil (Cefzil);

ceftibuten (Cedax);

cefuroxime (Ceftin);

cephalexin (Keflex); or

cephradine (Velosef); and others.

Before taking cefadroxil, tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs (especially penicillins), or if you have:

kidney disease; or

a history of intestinal problems, such as colitis.

If you have any of these conditions, you may need a dose adjustment or special tests to safely take cefadroxil.

The cefadroxil suspension (liquid) contains sucrose. Talk to your doctor before using this form of cefadroxil if you have diabetes.

FDA pregnancy category B. This medication is not expected to be harmful to an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment.

Cefadroxil may pass into breast milk and could harm a nursing baby. Do not use this medication without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.

Cexyl

Cexyl is a medication that is used to treat some bacterial infections such as infections of the urinary tract, skin and throat. It will not treat viral infections such as colds and flu.

Cexyl, also known as Cefadroxil, is dispensed in three forms: tablet, capsule and liquid. It is recommended to be taken once a day or twice a day for 7-10 days. It is important that the prescription label be read carefully, especially the instructions and take as directed. You should not take any more or any less than as prescribed by your doctor.

The capsules and the tablets need to be taken with a glass of water and the liquid needs to be shaken well before taking so that it is evenly mixed.

Before taking Cexyl, there are some precautions that go along with this medication. You will need to let your doctor and pharmacist know if you have any allergies to this medication or other cephalosporin antibiotics including penicillin, Keflex and Ceclor as well as any prescription or non-prescription medication including other antibiotics, vitamins, anticoagulants and Benemid. Your doctor also needs to be aware of conditions you may have such as kidney disease, liver disease, stomach issues or colitis and if you are pregnant, plan on becoming pregnant or you are breastfeeding. If you are having an dental surgery work, be sure to let your dental surgeon know if you are taking Cexyl.

If you find that this medication causes an upset stomach when taking it, you may want to consider taking Cexyl with food or milk. Taking Cexyl may cause some side effects. Some side effects are common while others are more severe. The common side effects should go away and not get worse and include minor skin rash, upset stomach, vomiting and diarrhea. If these symptoms do not go away or get worse, you will need to contact your physician right away. If you experience any of the more severe side effects, you will need to contact your doctor immediately or seek medical attention. The more serious symptoms include serious skin rash, infection of the vaginal area, itching, hives, sore throat, painful sores of the mouth or throat, wheezing, unusual bleeding, unusual bruising, troubles breathing or difficulty swallowing.
