Description

WHAT IS NORVASC

Norvasc belongs to a group of medicines known as calcium antagonists.

Norvasc is indicated for the treatment of hypertension or a certain type of chest pain (angina), including Prinzmetal. Norvasc may be used to reduce the risk of fatal coronary heart disease, risk of myocardial infarction and to reduce stroke risk.

Norvasc may be used in patients with coronary heart disease to reduce the risk of coronary revascularization.

Norvasc is used to treat severe chronic heart failure without ischemia.

In patients with hypertension, Norvasc relaxes blood vessels, thus facilitating blood circulation. In patients with angina, Norvasc improves blood supply to heart muscle, therefore giving more oxygen preventing chest pain. Norvasc is well tolerated by patients with heart failure and a history of hypertension or angina.
